Habitat: Uncommon and local on the eastern end of the lake. Several robust clumps at the upper edge of a narrow zone exposed by receding water levels (narrow ecotone between the lake and the adjacent upland forest). Substrate consists of small boulders with pockets of fairly moist coarse sand and gravel. Full sun to partial shade of Alnus incana.
Associated Species: Associates include Scirpus cyperinus, Carex lacustris, Calamagrostis canadensis, Myrica gale, Triadenum fraseri, Euthamia graminifolia, Lysimachia terrestris, Potentilla palustris.
