Habitat:
Locally common in old growth upland cedar dominated by Thuja occidentalis, with scattered Betula cordifolia, Acer rubrum, and Abies balsamea. Patchy understory of Acer spicatum. Level to gently-sloping settings. Mesic silt-loam; thick litter. Stoloniferous, forming loose patches.
