Habitat:
Occasional on the upper portion of the extremely steep 220-foot, east-facing slope above Gasket Lake. Fairly dense patches in a narrow zone of scrub (semi-forested) talus, between granitic outcrops above and extensive open talus below. Partial shade (Betula papyrifera, Corylus cornuta, Amelanchier interior, Prunus pensylvanica).

Associates include Dichanthelium acuminatum, Oryzopsis pungens, Poa pratensis, Carex backii, C. merritt-fernaldii, Cardamine parviflora, Antennaria holwellii ssp. canadensis, Vaccinium angustifolium, Diervilla lonicera, Amelanchier humilis.
