Local on a 30- to 40-foot, north-facing, granitic cliff, on the upper portion of a steep 160-foot slope above a small lake west of Gasket Lake. Occasional in mossy vertical crevices. Shaded beneath the surrounding forest canopy (Betula cordifolia, B. papyrifera, Picea mariana).
Associates include Huperzia xbartleyi, Polypodium virginianum, Dryopteris fragrans.
