Habitat: Occasional to frequent on 30- to 60-foot, northwest-facing, diabase cliffs that form the steep upper portion of a 120-foot bedrock ridge above Bannick Lake. Loose patches in crevices and on narrow ledges; many hundreds of plants along ~500 feet of cliff face. Dry-mesic to mesic settings. Many plants brown and withered, senescing. Partial sun to full shade beneath Acer spicatum, Abies balsamea, and Betula cordifolia.
Associated Species: Associates include Cystopteris fragilis, Dryopteris fragrans, Poa glauca, Rubus strigosus, Epilobium angustifolium.
