Locality: United States, Minnesota, Cook, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, Rugged bedrock terrain between Moose and Mountain Lakes, 20 miles north-northwest of Hovland. T65N R2E NW1/4 of SW1/4 of SW1/4 Sec. 13, NE1/4 of SE1/4 of SE1/4 Sec. 14

Verbatim Coordinates: 5332530N 712576E, 5332511N 712544E, 5332460N 712475E; T65N R02E sec13

Habitat: Uncommon on north- to northwest-facing, 40- to 120-foot diabase cliffs above the Lesser Cherry Portage; on the steepest portion of the ~350-foot north slope of Moose Mountain. Mostly on mid- and lower portions of the cliff, though not observed on a narrow band of Rove Formation sedimentary rocks exposed at the base of the cliff. In thick moss mats on narrow shaded ledges.

Associated Taxa: Associates include Dryopteris fragrans, Woodsia scopulina, Acer spicatum, Sorbus decora, Alnus viridis, Solidago hispida, Campanula rotundifolia, Maianthemum canadense.
