Uncommon on north- to northwest-facing, 40- to 120-foot diabase cliffs above the Lesser Cherry Portage; on the steepest portion of the ~350-foot north slope of Moose Mountain. Mostly on mid- and lower portions of the cliff, though not observed on a narrow band of Rove Formation sedimentary rocks exposed at the base of the cliff. In thick moss mats on narrow shaded ledges.
