Habitat:
Uncommon on a large north-facing cliff on the upper portion of the steep 350-foot slope above the west end of Watap Lake. Scattered clumps on Rove Formation sedimentary rocks on the lower half of what is locally a 75-foot cliff (much taller to the west), none on upper cliff diabase. In thick mats of Hylocomium splendens, Pleurozium schreberi, and Polytrichum sp. Shaded by Thuja occidentalis and Betula papyrifera.
