Habitat:
On the upper portion of the extremely steep 220-foot, east-facing slope above Gasket Lake. In a narrow zone of scrub (semi-forested) talus, between granitic outcrops above and extensive open talus below. Partial shade of Betula papyrifera. Frequent in a tall shrub layer with Acer spicatum, Corylus cornuta, and Prunus pensylvanica. Small trees, to ~12 feet tall.
Associated Species:
Associates include Vaccinium angustifolium, Diervilla lonicera, Amelanchier humilis, Carex backii, C. merritt-fernaldii, Oryzopsis pungens, Dichanthelium acuminatum, Cardamine parviflora, Asplenium trichomanes.
