Habitat:
Local on 50-foot granitic cliffs, on the extremely steep lower portion of a 200-foot, southeast-facing slope on the shore of Cuckoo Lake. Scattered robust clumps on mid-cliff ledges in a zone where dripping groundwater from above maintains a moist to wet microsite (which likely dampened the effects of the 2006 wildfire that burned the surrounding landscape. Full sun.

Associates include Euthamia graminifolia, Campanula rotundifolia, Epilobium ciliatum, Achillea millefolium, Saxifraga virginiana, Calamagrostis canadensis, Muhlenbergia glomerata, Agrostis scabra, Spiraea alba.
