Habitat: Local on the steep lower portion of a 250-foot slope east of Vesper Lake. Infrequent to occasional along mossy crevices and narrow ledges on the lower half of a 60-foot, northwest-facing, granitic cliff. Shaded mesic settings; beneath Betula cordifolia and B. papyrifera growing at the base of the cliff, as well as Acer spicatum and Alnus viridis growing on adjacent ledges.
Associated Species: Associates include Huperzia appalachiana, H. selago, Cinna latifolia, Thelypteris phegopteris, Goodyera tesselata, Ribes glandulosum.
