Local on the margins of rich sedge fen along the drainage west of South Cone and Middle Cone Lakes. Occasional along the upland margin, near a small pond. Amongst small boulders in exposed moist organic soil. Full sun to partial shade of Myrica gale.
Associates include Drosera intermedia, Juncus brevicaudatus, Carex michauxiana, C. echinata, C. cryptolepis, Rhynchospora fusca, R. alba, Dulichium arundinaceum, Agrostis scabra, Muhlenbergia uniflora.
