Habitat:
Occasional in small seepage wetlands. Partial shade of Betula papyrifera, B. cordifolia, Alnus viridis, Acer spicatum, Sorbus decora, and Salix discolor. Loose clumps in moist, shallow, rocky, organic soil on a narrow bedrock terrace just inland of the basalt shoreline shelf. In sedge meadow and shrub swamp settings.
