Habitat: Uncommon and local on the margins of granite outcrops, in level to gently-rolling terrain east of the Mississippi River. In shallow loamy soil over bedrock. Degraded oak savanna setting. Full sun.
Associated Species: Associates include Poa pratensis, P. compressa, Andropogon gerardii, Carex brevior, C. conoidea, Dichanthelium acuminatum, Heuchera richardsonii, Achillea millefolium, Lespedeza capitata, Tradescantia bracteata, Ambrosia coronopifolia, Spiraea alba, Amorpha canescens, Rubus uniformis.
