Habitat: Local, frequent on the margins of granite outcrops, in level to gently-rolling terrain east of the Mississippi River. In very thin soil over bedrock, often in moss and lichen mats. Degraded oak savanna setting. Mostly in full sun.
Associated Species: Associates include Ambrosia coronopifolia, Selaginella rupestris, Hedyotis longifolia, Allium stellatum, Hedeoma hispida, Poa compressa, Agrostis scabra, Dichanthelium acuminatum ssp. fasciculatum.
