Occasional on 40- to 80-foot, north-facing, diabase cliffs on the upper portion of a 250-foot ridge. Several dozen plants in loose patches on rather broad, sloping, lower and mid-cliff ledges. Often in thick mats of Hylocomium splendens, Polytrichum sp., and other mosses. Shaded by Sorbus decora, Acer spicatum, and Betula papyrifera rooted on adjacent ledges.
