Occasional in a narrow and gently-sloping shoreline zone, 3-6 inches above lake level. Relatively fine tan sand. Full sun most of the day.
Associates include Populus tremuloides seedlings, Carex cryptolepis, Cyperus bipartitus, Eleocharis quinqueflora, Scirpus atrovirens, Agrostis scabra, Poa compressa, Dichanthelium acuminatum, Juncus brevicaudatus, Euthamia graminifolia, Bidens sp.
