Habitat: Rare and local, four clumps on an upper ledge of a 60-foot, north-facing diabase cliff which forms the upper slope of a 250-foot ridge. In thin soil over sloping bedrock. Dry, exposed, and mostly sunny setting.
Associated Species: Associates include Betula cordifolia seedlings, Carex abdita, Poa glauca, Polypodium virginianum, Woodsia ilvensis, Polygonum cilinode, Solidago hispida, Vaccinium angustifolium.
