Local on the lower portion of the extremely steep southwest-facing slope of a 140-foot bedrock hill. Occasional, loose clumps in dry, shallow soil amongst talus and over bedrock at the base of a 30-foot granitic cliff. Also widely scattered along dry crevices on the vertically-fractured (columnar-jointed), xeric, sparsely-vegetated, lichen-covered bedrock face. Full sun to partial shade of Abies balsamea, Betula papyrifera, and Sorbus decora. ["or Poa interior Rydberg; too immature"- Robert Soreng, September 2013]
