Habitat: Occasional to frequent in dry barrens prairie and sand savanna on stabilized dunes south of Little Rock Lake. Mostly in full sun; some in partial shade of Juniperus virginiana and Quercus macrocarpa. Fine sand with little organic matter. In level to sloping settings, typically in open sand.
Associated Species: Associates include Carex siccata, Schizachrium scoparium, Sporobolus cryptandrus, Stipa spartea, Koeleria macrantha, Poa pratensis, Selaginella rupestris, Anemone patens, Ambrosia artemisiifolia, Artemisia frigida, Geum triflorum, Hedeoma hispida, Amorpha canescens.
