Habitat: Level to very gently-rolling sandy terrain on a broad upland island in an extensive peatland complex. Frequent along the grass runway, and in a grassy strip between the runway and the adjacent Airport State Forest Road. Full sun. Small to large, often fairly dense patches.
Associated Species: Associates include Andropogon gerardii, Bromus inermis, Poa pratensis, P. compressa, Botrychium simplex, B. multifidum, B. pallidum, Antennaria parvifolia, Achillea millefolium, Heuchera richardsonii, Campanula rotundifolia, Cirsium floodmani, Potentilla argentea, Helianthus maximiliani, Toxicodendron rydbergii.
