Frequent along the banks of the creek as it flows through a narrow shore fen dominated by Chamaedaphne calyculata and Myrica gale. In zones of sparser and lower-statured vegetation (maintained by wildlife and water level fluctuations) near the water's edge. Partially decomposed moist to wet peat. Full sun.
Associates include Carex cryptolepis, C. lasiocarpa, C. michauxiana, C. canescens, Juncus brevicaudatus, Calamagrostis canadensis, Hypericum majus, Cicuta bulbifera, Viola pallens, Potentilla palustris, Myrica gale.
