Locality: United States, Minnesota, Cook, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, Along Ball Club Creek in strongly rolling bedrock terrain north of Eagle Mountain, 15 miles northwest of Grand Marais. T63N R2W S1/2 of SW1/4 of NW1/4 Sec. 26

Elevation: 578 meters

Habitat: Local along a groundwater seepage flow emerging from the base of a steep, 60-foot, north-facing bedrock ridge rising above on the south bank of the creek. Moist decomposed peat; often rooted in mats of Philonotis fontana. The emerging groundwater is very cold (~35 degrees F); the weak flow is maybe about one gallon every 10-15 minutes. Variously in full sun to full shade beneath Abies balsamea and Picea mariana.
Associated Species: Additional associates include Juncus brevicaudatus, Carex canescens, Myrica gale, Chamaedaphne calyculata.
