Habitat:
Local along a groundwater seepage flow emerging from the base of a steep, 60-foot, north-facing bedrock ridge rising above on the south bank of the creek. Moist decomposed peat; often rooted in mats of Philonotis fontana. The emerging groundwater is very cold (~35 degrees F); the weak flow is maybe about one gallon every 10-15 minutes. Variously in full sun to full shade beneath Abies balsamea and Picea mariana.
Associated Species:
Additional associates include Juncus brevicaudatus, Carex canescens, Myrica gale, Chamaedaphne calyculata.
