Habitat: Frequent to abundant in poor conifer swamp surrounding Babble Lake. Partial shade beneath patchy canopy dominated by Picea mariana, with occasional Larix laricina. Often dense low shrub layer dominated by Ledum groenlandicum and Chamaedaphne calyculata. Forming loose to quite dense patches in carpets of Sphagnum mosses. Saturated peat.
Associated Species: Additional associates include Andromeda glaucophylla, Kalmia polifolia, Vaccinium oxycoccus, V. myrtilloides, Gaultheria hispidula, Carex trisperma, C. oligosperma, C. pauciflora, Sarracenia purpurea.
