Habitat: Local along the outlet drainage from (east of) Lantern Lake. Old growth upland white cedar forest. Patchy canopy dominated by large Thuja occidentalis, with large Fraxinus nigra near the small ephemeral stream. Understory of Acer spicatum, Abies balsamea and Thuja occidentalis. Moist, rocky, organic soil near the stream.
Associated Species: Associates in a fern-dominated ground layer include Thelypteris phegopteris, Athyrium angustum, Onoclea sensibilis, Streptopus amplexifolius, Arisaema triphyllum, Carex intumescens, C. leptonervia, Glyceria striata.
