Habitat: Uncommon and local on the very steep mid- and upper southwest-facing slope of a 280-foot bedrock ridge above Misquah Lake. Dry-mesic to dry woodland setting. Rocky silty soil, fairly shallow to granitic bedrock. Scattered trees, to ~8 inches D.B.H. and ~50 feet tall.
Associated Species: Associates include Populus tremuloides, Pinus strobus, Abies balsamea, Prunus pensylvanica, Amelanchier sp., Corylus cornuta, Diervilla lonicera.
