Habitat:
Uncommon and local on 50-foot, southwest-facing, granitic cliff on the steep upper slope of a 280-foot bedrock ridge overlooking Misquah Lake. In thin silty detritus on fairly broad upper cliff ledges, and on steeply-sloping cliff top. Full sun to partial shade.

Associates include Heuchera richardsonii, Potentilla arguta, P. norvegica, P. tridentata, Solidago nemoralis, Campanula rotundifolia, Woodsia ilvensis, Danthonia spicata, Agropyron trachycaulum, Agrostis scabra, Oryzopsis pungens, Schizachne purpurascens, Diervilla lonicera, Vaccinium angustifolium.
