Habitat: Infrequent to occasional in poor black spruce swamp south of Carl Lake. Patchy to moderately dense canopy dominated by mature Picea mariana. In continuous moss carpets (Sphagnum angustifolium, S. magellanicum, Pleurozium schreberi, Hylocomium splendens). Deep, saturated peat. A few hundred clumps in a several acre area.
Associated Species: Associates include Listera cordata, Monotropa uniflora, Smilacina trifolia, Coptis groenlandica, Carex trisperma, Cornus canadensis, Gaultheria hispidula, Ledum groenlandicum.
