Locality: United States, Minnesota, Cook, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, Rugged bedrock terrain southwest of Misquah Lake, in the western end of the Misquah Hills, 21 miles northwest of Grand Marais. T64N R3W S1/2 of NW1/4 of SE1/4 Sec. 36

Habitat: Local along the northeastern shore of Cliff Lake, on the lower portion of a steep south- to southwest-facing slope of a 250-foot bedrock ridge. Occasional along the upper edge of a dry talus slope, at the base of an 80-foot high granitic cliff. Stems trailing over talus blocks and on small shrubs. Full sun. Talus blocks are angular and moderate sized here (mostly ~4-18 inches in diameter).
Associated Species: Associates include Toxicodendron rydbergii, Polygonum cilinode, Corylus cornuta, Agropyron trachycaulum.
