Local on a small (~12-foot high), north- to northwest-facing gabbro cliff on the tip of a peninsula along the southeastern shore of the lake. Several small, dense patches in thin moss mats along crevices ~18-48 inches above lake level (cliff rises directly out of the lake). Fairly sunny and exposed setting, though plants are somewhat shaded by the aspect of the rock face and scattered Picea mariana at the edge of the adjacent bedrock woodland above the cliff.
Associates on the very sparsely vegetated cliff face include Woodsia ilvensis, Myrica gale, Betula cordifolia.
