Habitat: Occasional to frequent on a north-facing cliff on the shore of Omega Lake. In crevices on a shaded, dry-mesic, sparsely-fractured, 20- to 50-foot high gabbro (troctolite?) cliff, a portion of which rises directly out of the lake. Shaded by the aspect of the rock, and by Picea mariana, Betula papyrifera, B. cordifolia, Thuja occidentalis, Sorbus decora, and Abies balsamea. Loose to dense patches. Sometimes in moss mats (Hylocomium, Pleurozium, Polytrichum).
Associated Species: Additional associates on the sparsely-vegetated bedrock include Cystopteris fragilis, Dryopteris fragrans, Alnus viridis.
