Habitat: Rare and local along the short portage trail connecting Phalanx and Finn lakes. Several plants in a loose patch at the edge of the foot path ~10 feet from the shore of Phalanx Lake. Shaded beneath mature Thuja occidentalis and Picea mariana. Rocky silty soil.
Associated Species: Associates include seedlings of Betula papyrifera, also Dryopteris carthusiana, Aralia nudicaulis, Maianthemum canadense, Coptis groenlandica, Gaultheria hispidula.
