Habitat: Local along a small stream which runs along the short portage trail connecting Phalanx and Finn lakes. Small patches here on a gentle to moderately steep north-facing slope. Moist rocky soil near the stream, in a narrow zone that floods during spring run-off and after heavy rains. Shaded beneath a canopy of old growth Thuja occidentalis, and mature Betula papyrifera and B. cordifolia; with scattered Acer spicatum in the patchy understory.
Associated Species: Additional associates include Lycopus uniflorus, Aralia racemosa, Athyrium angustum.
