Rare on steeply-sloping outcrops and cliffs rising up to 40 feet high along the south shore of Finn Lake. Rooted in moss mats (Pleurozium schreberi, Sphagnum sp. [section Acutifolia,] etc.) on narrow ledges of the little-fractured, northerly-facing, gabbro (troctolite?) bedrock. [originally det. as H. x buttersii - Robert Preston, 2011]
