Locality: United States, Minnesota, Cook, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, Rolling bedrock terrain 24 miles northwest of Grand Marais, 26 miles north of Lutsen. T64N R3W NE1/4 of SW1/4 Sec. 14

Elevation: 590 meters Verbatim Elevation: 1935ft

Habitat: Rare and local on a 30- to 40-foot, north-facing cliff at the western tip of Finn Lake. On lower ledges of the blocky, little-fractured, sparsely-vegetated gabbro (or troctolite?) bedrock. Rooted in thick mats of Hylacomnium splendens. In partially shaded dry-mesic settings beneath Picea mariana, Betula papyrifera, B. cordifolia, Alnus viridis, and Sorbus decora. Associated Taxa: Associates include Polypodium virginianum, Woodsia ilvensis, Thelypteris phegopteris, Dryopteris fragrans.
