Habitat:
Uncommon in an area regenerating from an intense 1995 wildfire, on the north side of Skidway Lake. Full sun to partial shade of young Betula papyrifera, Picea glauca, P. mariana, Populus tremuloides, and Prunus pensylvanica. Horizontal stems buried 4-6 inches deep. Bluish hue to the shoots. Loose patches in shallow silty soil over gabbro bedrock.
