Occasional on gentle to rather steep north-facing slope above the south shore of Swan Lake. Old growth upland cedar forest dominated by large Thuja occidentalis, with occasional Betula cordifolia. Patchy understory of Acer spicatum, Abies balsamea, Thuja occidentalis. Organic rocky silty soil with a quite thick and spongy duff layer.
Additional associates include Carex pedunculata, C. deweyana, Viola selkirkii, Mitella nuda, Circaea alpina, Coptis trifolia, Athyrium angustum, Huperzia lucidula, Phegopteris connectilis, Rubus pubescens, R. parviflorus, Taxus canadensis.
