Habitat: Local along the north shore of Tote Lake. Frequent small clumps in a narrow shoreline zone exposed by receding water levels (down ~12 inches). Shallow pockets of sandy gravel between cobbles and small boulders. Full sun.
Associated Species: Associates include seedlings of Thuja occidentalis and Picea mariana, also Agrostis scabra, Muhlenbergia uniflora, Carex cryptolepis, Scirpus atrocinctus, Lycopus uniflorus, Equisetum arvense, Aster puniceus, Euthamia graminifolia, Eupatorium perfoliatum, Myrica gale.
