Habitat: Frequent along the north shore of Tote Lake, in a narrow shoreline zone (~15 feet wide) exposed by receding water levels (down ~12 inches). Scattered plants and small patches in moist shallow pockets of sandy gravel between cobbles and small boulders. Full sun.
Associated Species: Associates include seedlings of Thuja occidentalis, Picea mariana, and Pinus banksiana, also Dichanthelium acuminatum, Agrostis scabra, Muhlenbergia uniflora, Scirpus atrocinctus, Carex cryptolepis, Equisetum arvense, Euthamia graminifolia, Eupatorium perfoliatum, Aster puniceus, Myrica gale.
