Habitat: Local along the northwest and southwest shores of Tote Lake. Uncommon and local, several small patches encountered in ecotonal settings within ~30 feet of the lake; often in microsites exposed when near-shore trees were uprooted by wind. Fairly moist settings; in rocky gravelly soil and moss mats (Dicranum, Pleurozium, Polytrichum). Partial shade.
Associated Species: Associates include Agrostis scabra, Equisetum arvense, Pyrola minor, P. elliptica, P. secunda, Fragaria virginiana, Linnaea borealis, Rubus strigosus, Gaultheria hispidula.
