Locality: United States, Minnesota, Cook, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, Strongly rolling bedrock terrain south of Swan Lake, 16 miles northwest of Grand Marais. T63N R2W N1/2 of SE1/4 of NE1/4 Sec. 14

Elevation: 539 meters Verbatim Elevation: 1770ft

Habitat: Common along the southwest shore of Tote Lake. Stoloniferous, forming loose patches in fairly moist gravelly / rocky areas in the upland / lakeshore ecotone ~10-30 feet from the lake; pioneering in spots exposed by the roots of wind-thrown trees. Also on silty organic hummocks near the lake. Partial shade.

Associated Taxa: Associates include Thuja occidentalis seedlings, also Gaultheria hispidula, Spinulum annotinum, Huperzia selago, Trientalis borealis, Lycopus uniflorus, Triadenum fraseri, Linnaea borealis, Calamagrostis canadensis, Agrostis scabra.
