Habitat:
Occasional on a long low point, in a broad and nearly level shoreline zone exposed by receding water levels (down ~12 inches from early season high mark). This zone is dominated by patches of Eleocharis elliptica. Amongst cobbles and small boulders in moist organic muck, 2-6 inches above the present lake level. Full sun.

Additional associates include Carex cryptolepis, C. utriculata, Juncus brevicaudatus, Euthamia graminifolia, Ranunculus flammula, Eriocaulon aquaticum.
