Locality: United States, Minnesota, Cook, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, Level to gently rolling forested terrain east of Horseshoe Lake, 19 miles north-northwest of Grand Marais. Local on the margins of a beaver pond along a small drainage west of Prop Lake. T64N R1W SW1/4 of SE1/4 of NW1/4 Sec. 20

Habitat: Common in moist to rather dry and cracked mucky clay on broad mud flats exposed by receding water levels (due to an extended drought). Full sun.

Associated Taxa: Associates include Eleocharis ovata, E. palustris, Scirpus atrocinctus, Torreyochloa pallida, Glyceria canadensis, Dulichium arundinaceum, Juncus brevicaudatus, Bidens cernua, Sparganium emersum, Iris versicolor, Myriophyllum farwellii.
