Occasional to frequent in a series of vernal wetlands in small (~1/4-acre) basins east of Gore Lake. Full sun to partially shaded by the surrounding forest (Betula papyrifera, Abies balsamea, Picea mariana, Pinus strobus, Thuja occidentalis). Moist to fairly dry organic substrate (due to lingering drought).
Associates include Torreyochloa pallida, Glyceria borealis, Carex arcta, C. vesicaria, C. retrorsa, Epilobium ciliatum, Cardamine pensylvanica, Veronica scutellata, Sparganium minimum, Galium trifidum, Sium suave, Hippuris vulgaris.
