Habitat:
Common on the shores of small islands in Meeds Lake. Forming loose to dense patches in pockets of sand and gravel amongst rocks and boulders. Plants are variously submerged in shallow water (to ~36 inches deep) or stranded on the shoreline up to ~12 inches above the water line (lake level is down ~18 inches from the early season high mark due to an extended drought). Specimen is from a stranded setting. Full sun.

Associates include Carex lenticularis, Eleocharis palustris, Lobelia dortmanna, Equisetum fluviatile, Juncus pelocarpus.
