Occasional to common in poor conifer swamp surrounding a small (~4-acre) bog pond north of Allen Lake. Occurring mostly on middle and lower branches of somewhat stunted Picea mariana. Patchy canopy; full sun to partial shade. Substrate is saturated peat. Continuous Sphagnum carpets.
Additional associates include Larix laricina, Ledum groenlandicum, Chamaedaphne calyculata, Kalmia polifolia, Vaccinium oxycoccus, Sarracenia purpurea, Smilacina trifolia, Carex paupercula, C. disperma, C. pauciflora.
