Habitat:
Infrequent in alder swamp along a small drainage north of Allen Lake. Shaded below fairly dense Alnus incana, and scattered Thuja occidentalis, Abies balsamea, Picea mariana, and Betula cordifolia. On Sphagnum hummocks.
Associated Species:
Associates include Viola incognita, V. macloskeyi, Trientalis borealis, Dryopteris carthusiana, Rubus pubescens, R. strigosus, Carex leptalea, Calamagrostis canadensis. Wetland impacted by past beaver flooding (old dam ~250 yards to the southeast); was likely a rich conifer (cedar) swamp here in the past.
