Habitat: Infrequent and local in patch of old growth mesic white pine forest on a ridge above the southwest side of Caribou Lake. Patchy canopy dominated by huge Pinus strobus, with occasional large Thuja occidentalis. Patchy understory of Abies balsamea, Betula cordifolia, and Acer spicatum. Rocky silt with thick litter and deep humus.
Associated Species: Additional associates include Cornus canadensis, Linnaea borealis, Trientalis borealis, Maianthemum canadense, Viola selkirkii, Clintonia borealis, Aralia nudicaulis, Platanthera orbiculata, Rubus strigosus, Lonicera canadensis.
