Habitat: Local in a patch of black ash swamp perched above the small drainage between Bean and Parsnip lakes. Occasional beneath an interrupted canopy of Fraxinus nigra. Patchy understory of Fraxinus nigra, Abies balsamea, Alnus incana, and Thuja occidentalis. Mostly in full shade.
Associated Species: Associates include Rubus strigosus, R. pubescens, Viola pallens, Athyrium angustum, Dryopteris carthusiana, Osmunda cinnamomea, Galium asprellum, Scutellaria lateriflora, Lycopus uniflorus, Carex intumescens, C. trisperma, C. leptalea, Glyceria striata, Calamagrostis canadensis.
