Habitat: Very local along the southwest shore of Turnip Lake. Small loose colony of ~two dozen vertical shoots. Gently-sloping ecotonal zone ~5-15 feet from the edge of the lake, and ~3 feet above lake level. Partial sun to full shade beneath dense young Abies balsamea and Picea mariana. Rather dry (dry-mesic) and fairly shallow silty-organic soil over rocks.
Associated Species: Associates include Vaccinium myrtilloides, Chamaedaphne calyculata, Gaultheria hispidula, Alnus incana, Myrica gale, Cornus canadensis, Spinulum annotinum, Triadenum fraseri.
