Habitat: Shaded beneath a patchy canopy of young Betula papyrifera and Populus tremuloides. Fairly dense understory of Abies balsamea and Thuja occidentalis. Forming small but rather dense patches in moss mats (Pleurozium, Thuidium). Substrate is clay.
Associated Species: Additional associates include Pyrola asarifolia, Equisetum arvense.
